M I H G Chapter 203: 0-meter Race.
The two girls were running ahead, with Master
Roshi following behind and Frank riding a small electric scooter on the outer
edge of the track, chasing after Master Roshi to prevent him from getting too
excited and pulling ahead by several hundred meters.
After completing four laps, it was clear that
Su Jie couldn't keep up any longer. She waved her hand and exited the track,
walking slowly on the grass. Although Lu Yao's looks were slightly inferior to
Su Jie's, her figure couldn't be ignored. So Master Roshi, still drooling,
continued to follow Lu Yao.
Lu Yao seemed quite professional; she continued
to run with ease even after completing nine laps. Master Roshi also managed to
complete nine laps with a leisurely attitude.
It's important to note that they were running,
and by now, they had covered more than 10,000 meters. Frank was becoming more
certain that this girl was likely part of some provincial track and field team.
He considered reminding Master Roshi not to run anymore, and If he kept
running, people might suspect he was an alien. However, since Master Roshi and
Lu Yao were quite close to each other, Frank hesitated to approach and speak.
However, during the tenth lap, Lu Yao
accelerated and launched into a sprint, with Master Roshi maintaining a
one-meter distance behind her. By the time Lu Yao reached the spot where Su Jie
had previously collapsed, she too couldn't hold on any longer. She took a few
steps and then simply lay down on the grass, gesturing for Su Jie to step on
her muscles.
"Uh, is the old man still behind?" Lu
Yao asked, gasping for breath.
"Young lady is impressive," before Lu
Yao could finish speaking, Master Roshi had effortlessly caught up, looking at
it and saying: "It's been a while since this old man ran this far."
"Wu Tian Grandpa," Su Jie looked at
Master Roshi and said: "Could I touch your beard?"
"Sure."
Master Roshi saw this as a great opportunity
and immediately leaned in. He tilted his neck, indicating that she could even
give him a kiss or two. But Su Jie actually reached out and pulled Master
Roshi's beard slightly to confirm it was real, then retracted her hand.
"Your footwork isn't professional,"
Master Roshi said to Su Jie: "Do you want me to help massage your
muscles?"
"Sure, Grandpa, please do," Lu Yao
panted, then asked: "But, Grandpa, could you tell me which legendary
figure from the track and field team you were in the past? I want to pay my
respects."
"I told you, I'm a martial artist."
Master Roshi spoke the truth, but in this day
and age, the truth is often the least believable. So the two girls assumed that
Master Roshi didn't want to reveal his true background.
As Master Roshi massaged Lu Yao's muscles, he
clearly used martial arts techniques. So after a short while, Lu Yao no longer
felt any soreness or numbness.
"I'm a 5,000-meter athlete from the
national track and field team," Lu Yao leaned against the grass and said
to Master Roshi: "I was thinking of participating in the team's selection
trials in a while. Maybe I could even compete internationally, but now it seems
my strength isn't enough; I can't even outrun an old man."
"Young people have good strength; they
just haven't used the right methods," Master Roshi slowly spoke:
"Running is also a form of martial arts. It emphasizes cultivating
internal energy before external force. The way you train is purely focused on
the external force, squeezing out your potential. In a few years, you'll likely
end up with injuries."
"Old man, you really have the air of a
martial artist," Su Jie smiled and said: "But which retired athlete
doesn't have a body full of injuries?"
At this point, Frank couldn't stand by any
longer. If Master Roshi had really been unable to resist teaching these girls a
few moves, and later the track and field team came to investigate, how would he
explain it?
So he rode his electric scooter over, leaned
in, and said to Su Jie and Lu Yao, "My master practices high up in the
Zhongnan Mountains. He's come out to relax and cleanse his heart from worldly
matters. He really has nothing to do with the track and field team."
"The more you say, the less believable it
becomes," Su Jie blinked at Frank and said, "Yesterday, Master Wu
Tian even said you were his landlord. Today, you've become his disciple. Are
you two teaming up to mess with us?"
"Do you know how fast I can run 100
meters?" Master Roshi got off Lu Yao and twisted his neck, saying:
"If I can prove that not only I can run fast, but also without harming my
body, would you be willing to become my disciples and be registered under my
name?"
"Uh," Frank looked at Master Roshi in
disbelief.
Yesterday, he was thinking that Master Roshi
had the title of Martial Arts God in the Dragon Ball world's Earth. So he
imagined that those who were eager to learn martial arts would be lining up to
learn from him.
So, Master Roshi taking him as a registered
disciple must have sensed the primordial power hidden within him, but now, it
seems that being a registered disciple is as easy as picking cabbage at a
market.
"Old man," Lu Yao had already gotten
up at this point. She touched her nearly recovered leg muscles, and there was a
clear hint of astonishment in her eyes as she said to Master Roshi: "No
matter whether you can prove it or not, as long as you're willing, I definitely
want to become your disciple."
"Verification is still necessary."
Master Roshi lifted his leg and walked slowly
toward the distance. Frank quickly rode his electric scooter to a position
around fifty meters away. Lu Yao and Su Jie exchanged glances, both expressing
their disbelief through each other's eyes. Did this old man go running a
hundred-meter sprint?!
Although Master Roshi had just demonstrated
endurance beyond his age during the long run, after all, the human endurance
limit is in marathon running, but now, this hundred meters sprint tests the
limits of human explosive power. If this old man can truly run a hundred meters
sprints, let alone break records, even running within 11 seconds would be a
human miracle. So, both of them opened their phones, pulled up their
stopwatches, and started recording.
Lu Yao stretched her arm, signaling that Master
Roshi could get ready now. However, Master Roshi continued to move as if he
were doing a square dance, just waving his arms and lifting his legs. She looked
helpless, waiting a few more seconds before suddenly bringing her arm down.
One second, two seconds, three seconds... eight
seconds, nine seconds! When Master Roshi's stopwatch recorded the ninth second,
he successfully completed the hundred meters sprint.
Frank breathed a sigh of relief. At least this
old man didn't go overboard and didn't try to impress by running a
record-breaking 5.6 seconds as he did in front of Son Goku and Krillin.
This broke through medical knowledge. Nine
seconds, still within the range of normal human capability.
Frank heaved a sigh of relief, but the two
girls recording the time were utterly stunned.
"Co-cousin, how many seconds did you
record on your phone?" Su Jie stammered as she looked at Lu Yao, "My
phone seems to have an issue. It actually recorded only nine seconds and
forty-seven milliseconds."
"It's not an issue," Lu Yao gasped,
looking at her phone and saying, "Mine is nine seconds and forty-six
milliseconds."
